It's official! The filing period for the 2024 El Paso Democratic Primary has ended! As Chair of the El Paso County Democratic Primary, I'm confident that the candidates who have filed will do their best to represent the Democratic Party and our values. I can't wait for the voters to learn more about the candidates and cast their votes for the best nominee to represent our party in the 2024 November election.
While we will have great discussions and debates in the following weeks on who should be our nominees, I want to focus on one race that I know we will have a great nominee regardless who wins, and that's the District Attorney's race.
It's vital to have a fair and just legal system that's not influenced by political agendas, but yesterday El Paso Matters reported that Governor Abbott's appointee has failed at this and in particular the Wal-mart case.
According to the former head prosecutor, the current DA plays politics over justice, and the "administration showed no appreciation for the work ... he was only concerned about making himself look good in news interviews."
We need officials who prioritize justice and the well-being of their constituents over personal interests and not for the headlines! I'm confident that each of our candidates seeking the Democratic nomination for District Attorney will get the job done! First day to apply for Vote By Mail Ballot: January 1, 2024
Voter Registration Deadline: Monday, February 5, 2024 (postmark deadline)
First Date of Early Voting: Tuesday, February 20, 2024
Last day to Apply for Mail By Ballot: Friday, February 23, 2024 (must be in the office at the close of business)
Last day of Early Voting: Friday, March 1, 2024
Election Day: March 5, 2024
